Behind the Scenes: Angelena’s Culinary Classes

Join Chef James Briscione and Wine Director, Brooke Parkhurst as they lead “Behind the Scenes”, a series of culinary classes on the second Thursday, every other month, beginning January 14, 2021. Classes will cover everything from shopping to preparation to presentation. The class begins promptly at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m. The class costs $65, plus tax and gratuity, per person which covers the cooking demonstration, tastings of the recipes, wine pairings, and a take-home recipe booklet so you can try the recipes in the comfort of your own home. Thursday, January 14: Pasta Done Light– Healthy Cooking in the New Year New Year, new and healthful you! Chef James and Brooke love their pasta as much as their workouts and balanced diets. Follow along as they prepare their favorite light and delicious pasta preparations from their debut cookbook through their most current release, Flavor For All. Vegetables, light cheeses and lean proteins take center stage. Thursday, March 11: Stuzzichini & Aperitivi – Entertaining Italian-style, Appetizers and Cocktails Have you ever wanted to entertain like an Italian? ‘Aperitivo hour’ with friends, colleagues and family is the sacred sunset hour that bridges the end of the workday to evenings ‘al fresco’ in the piazza or at a rooftop bar. Spritzes, vibrant cocktails and perfect, small bites can pass for a great Aperitivo hour or meal. Thursday, May 13: Italian Grilling – Steaks, Farm-fresh Vegetables, Salads and More Tuscans grill better! The outdoor grill is a one-stop cooking machine where everything from seasonal vegetables to prime cuts of beef to juicy Georgia peaches develop intense and unique flavors that can’t be created any other way. Simple, fresh and flavorful, learn how to prep, cook and garnish your grilled food like a Tuscan cowboy! Thursday, July 8: Frutti di Mare: Seafood with an Italian Accent – Simple, Fresh Seafood Preparations In this class, we marry Gulf Coast seafood with the Italian sensibility of bright and simple preparations and flavors. Chilled pasta starters take center stage with whole-baked fish and rich shellfish pastas. Thursday, September 9: Handmade Pastas Have you ever wanted to make fresh ribbons of fettuccine, pillow-y ravioli, button-sized tortellini or silky pasta sheets for the perfect lasagna? Chef James has all the tricks for rolling out pasta like an Italian grandmother! Thursday, November 11: Macelleria –Whole Hog and Bourbon If you’ve ever wanted to go into a macelleria, a butcher shop, in Italy, but didn’t have the chance, Chef James Briscione and Angelena’s will now bring the butcher shop to you. You’ll watch and learn in ‘real time’ as Chef James transforms a half hog into your favorite cuts Angelena’s Ristorante Italiano, located at 101 East Intendencia Street in historic downtown Pensacola, is inspired by the deep roots of our city’s history. At the turn of the century, Angelena Giatano, an Italian immigrant, was in search of the American dream and found it here in Pensacola. Angelena’s offers coastal Italian cuisine as well as an extensive list of Italian wines.
