Christmas Messiah
Cathedral of the Sacred Heart (1212 E. Moreno St.) Pensacola, FL
The Choral Society of Pensacola will present two performances of "Christmas Messiah," hosted by the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, one on Friday, December 1 at 7:30 pm and one on Saturday, December 2 at noon. The program features excerpts from Handel’s masterwork (including the complete Christmas portion and the famed “Hallelujah” chorus), as well as arrangements of three familiar carols and Jennifer Higdon's ethereal "O Magnum Mysterium." The music will be performed by the Society’s 100-voice chorus and chamber orchestra, conducted by artistic director Peter Steenblik. In addition, the concert showcases four of Pensacola Opera's Jan Miller Studio Artists as soloists, soprano Nicole Heinen, mezzo-soprano Alexandra Sanchez, baritone Bernardo Medeiros (from this season), and tenor Randy Ho (from last).
