Celebrate St. Paddy's Day in Downtown Pensacola
On March 17th, everyone’s a little Irish. What started as a Christian Feast Day in Ireland in the 1700s has since become a widely-celebrated holiday around the world. This year, there are plenty of celebrations and events in Downtown Pensacola to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, so get ready to celebrate all things green.
O’Riley’s Irish Pub is hosting the 5th annual Grog March on Saturday, March 14th. The pub crawl starts at 4:00 p.m. and makes four stops in the Downtown area. Participants are asked to bring two food items or a cash donation for Manna Food Pantries. On March 17th, O’Riley’s will be hopping with an all day-celebration that kicks off at 9:00 a.m. and includes live music and a corned beef and cabbage special.
Keep the festivities alive at Seville Quarter from 11:00 a.m. with green beer, Irish drink specials, as well as lunch and dinner specials of Irish Stew and Corned Beef and Cabbage. But that’s not all, SoGourmet is offering a five-course dinner to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and Pot Roast & Pinot is inviting people to a special Irish Whiskey tasting. If that’s not enough, you can also sample one of the 40 Irish whiskies available at Old Hickory Whiskey Bar.
One of the most successful all-female groups in Irish history will perform in Downtown Pensacola this Spring. The Grammy-nominated international music group Celtic Woman is bringing their North American Tour to the Pensacola Bay Center on April 19th. The four soloists continue the centuries-old Irish tradition of telling stories through song and are backed by a band, traditional step-dancers and vocalists.
Want to brush up on your Irish history or try some traditional dishes? The Bodacious Bookstore and Cafe will have an Irish travel guide and some new Irish cookbooks for sale in Mid-March. If you have a specific book in mind that you don’t see on the shelves, the staff will be happy to order it for you.
