First Fridays Art Walk Brings New Art-Centric Energy to Downtown Pensacola.

Downtown Pensacola’s creative community is coming together in a new way with the launch of First Fridays Art Walk, a monthly event designed to showcase the city’s thriving arts scene through gallery exploration, artist engagement, live music and cultural connection in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.

Held on the first Friday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., First Fridays Art Walk invites residents and visitors to experience downtown’s galleries and creative spaces at their own pace, with complimentary trolley transportation connecting participating locations.

The event grew from a longstanding tradition at Blue Morning Gallery on Palafox, which for years has hosted featured artist receptions on the first Friday of every month. Blue Morning Gallery artist Gretchen Paux and downtown artist/gallery owner Sarah Soule Webb began discussing ways to expand the concept beyond a single gallery, creating an event that would bring together downtown's growing arts community while placing the focus squarely on local artists and galleries.

“We want to activate downtown in a new way that is art-centric, brings the community together for a fun purpose, and supports local artists,” said Paux. “The creative energy is already here. This is about connecting our galleries, creating new opportunities for artists, and giving residents and visitors a reason to experience the arts throughout downtown.”

The Downtown Improvement Board was immediately on board. “The DIB exists to support the businesses and organizations that make downtown such a vibrant place,” said Walker Wilson, DIB executive director. “When Gretchen and Sarah shared their vision, we immediately saw the potential. First Fridays Art Walk encourages people to explore Downtown Pensacola in a new way, discover our incredible galleries, and spend time supporting local artists and businesses. We're proud to help bring that vision to life through marketing and complimentary trolley support.”

The first First Fridays Art Walk was held in June, shortly after completion of the New Palafox streetscape improvements, and drew an enthusiastic response from both residents and visitors.

First Fridays Art Walk are hosted by 10 participating galleries and businesses:

• Blue Morning Gallery
• Quayside Art Gallery
• Artel Art Gallery
• Sarah Soule Webb Studios
• Artworks Seville
• Joe Hobbs Gallery
• Reverie Fine Art Collective
• Brent Lofts Art Gallery
• Noteworthy Gift

Additional galleries and creative spaces are invited to join the event as it continues to grow.

The complimentary trolley service is sponsored by the Downtown Improvement Board, Pensacola Title Company, and Boyles and Boyles, Attorneys at Law, allowing attendees to easily travel between participating locations throughout the evening.
